The way of mobility will change. There will be less classical individual motor car traffic, the remaining cars will be electrified. The supply of shared (and for some parts autonomous) on-demand-mobility-solutions like ride- and car-sharing has significantly increased.

Micro-Mobility will be – in addition to autonomous mobility services the first choice for short distances due to severe restrictions for classical individual motor car traffic and modified infrastructure for bicycles and such. Mobility services will offer a flexible variance of options around the corner. Privately ownership will decrease even further.

Even when people do more and more online shopping, missing out on their parcel will belong to the past. City-Hubs, package stations, or direct delivery into a home will be everywhere due to the flood of packages. No more missed delivery attempts and reduced traffic, and express delivery will come by drones.

3D Printer will be mainstream in 2030 and diy craftsmen will use them as naturally as a cordless drill today. They will be highly productive, user friendly and low priced. Everyone will have access to templates on open-source- platforms, 3D-Scanner produce data for the reprint of broken parts.

Fusion of real and virtual worlds
Virtual and augmented reality have moved into everyone’s life. Relaxing with Himalayan yoga in your garden or learning Kung Fu from Bruce Lee, the master himself, at home will be normalized. Virtual holidays on Mars are easily affordable for everyone without space flight and jetlag.

Housing will get even more scarce and expensive and new living standards will be established to maximize the existing living space for various scenarios. The room-layouts in new constructions will be the most flexible. Modular furniture, movable walls, and clever storage space will make it possible.

Most events will be online. Even concerts or football games will be streamed and can be experienced alone or in groups at home. With modern technology, experiences can be shared globally and immersive. Only personally valuable “specials” will be enjoyed live.

In 2030 Everything-is-a-Service. Usually, meals in single- and couple households will be delivered or picked up - but not cooked or self- prepared. Cooking will only happen on special occasions or for events, and will be elevated with self-produced herbs and products from the personal indoor farm.

The trend “Quantified Self” will be mainstream – most people will track their life in 2030. The classic data like step counter, heart rate tracking or sleep pattern monitoring will be enhanced by additional vital data supplied by furniture e.g. bed, mirror, WC,... AI-assistants will be an early-warning system and health buddy and advisor at the same time e.g. providing tips for the proper nourishment.

Green areas are the new luxury
In very condensed spaces of cities the new luxury and relaxation oasis will be people’s own green space or garden. It will be used for recovery, maintaining well-being, growing herbs and vegetables, and experiencing self-efficacy and love for nature. A scenic drive into the countryside will cost lots of (time) effort and quickly accessible nature becomes more important.

Super-Integrated Smart Kitchen
Families are still cooking, but in urban settings, kitchens will be integrated with the spaces to maximize living. Separated kitchens will become rare as the space requirements will be precious, and kitchens will need to be integrated and smart. A stove might be integrated into the table top to maximize space. People with higher incomes will afford robots to prepare meals. Recipes will be online, and the ingredients will be delivered directly, fitting accordingly to the meals.

Buying a car, shopping and viewing apartments will get a virtual overlay with individualised content. None of the kitchen showrooms will have real configurations for testing – All features and potential set ups can be experienced virtually With AR- and VR-glasses one can fit fashion individually, or even design an apartment by trying out various styles before making a final real-life decision.
